The Crystal Ship 2024: Mural by Katie Green

This project was all about community, healing, and self-exploration through handmade masks. Participants of Spinaas (the creative label of Duinhelm vzw and Briek vzw) were invited to design and wear masks, offering a glimpse into their inner selves. It's a safe space where expression meets anonymity, allowing individuals to share their true selves with the world.

Drawing inspiration from James Ensor, Katie uses masks to evoke intrigue and mystery. Just like in Ensor's work, masks served as a passage between the seen and the unseen, inviting us to delve deeper into our imaginations. Through this project, masks became a part of our identity, guiding the participants on a journey to discover their inner landscapes.
